DomainsBot is an application for generation of domain names, domain search tools, evaluation tools, and a vanity telephone number spinner.
DomainsBot launched in 1999 as a search engine for expired or expiring domains. It expanded its functionality in 2004 with the Semantic Engine for domain searches and suggestions. In 2008, Sedo became a minority investor in DomainsBot.
The site is still in beta testing, so it is a bit clumsy to use. The big drawback is that the prominently advertised tools are all fee-based. There are many apps out there that offer similar features for free.
Interestingly, the tools listed on the front page are not the tools offered in MyDomainsBot. The Data and Visual tools are much different and, as the site is still in beta testing, some don’t work. To use the tools that were advertised, users must go to “products” and sign up for a free trial. All of the listed services have costs associated with them. The free trial signup link takes you to a contact form to request the trials.
During review, trials were requested. The response indicated that the trial services are for business customers as they are provided by API. The trial request was denied.
An email address and password are required. A confirmation link is provided via email.
DomainsBot is completely free to use.
At the moment, this site is not recommended. Several of the tools do not work and it is questionable whether the free trials are available upon request. All of the premium services are fee based. The bait and switch of the prominently displayed tools is inappropriate.
